Telescopic Deep-Field Macro of Cometary Nucleus and Jets
deep space · telescope · coma · outgassing jets
Scientific deep-sky telescopic astrophotography presented in a horizontal 3:2 aspect ratio, isolating the inner coma and nucleus of an approaching active comet. Captured through a high-magnification Ritchey-Chrétien astrograph with narrow-band filters, the dynamic core is situated off-center, revealing asymmetric fountain-like jets of vaporized water ice and carbon monoxide erupting from the rotating sunlit side of the dark irregular nucleus. A luminous spherical envelope glows with intense emerald-green light from diatomic carbon excitation, transitioning into turbulent structural streamers where solar wind pulls ionized plasma into a twisting fibrous blue tail sweeping across the wide frame. Pinpoint background galaxies and field stars shine through the semi-translucent gas, offering clean deep-space negative space across the horizontal expanse for desktop wallpaper utility.
