Autumn Pond with Reeds in Textured Gouache
gouache landscape · autumn pond · russet reeds · paint texture
Paint an autumn scene around a small woodland pond in a 4:3 landscape composition for a wide gallery print. Place dense russet reeds across the lower left, opening onto a quiet patch of slate-blue water at the center. Beyond the pond, rounded trees carry mustard, coral, and dark olive foliage under a soft cream sky. Use opaque gouache with visible brush edges, subtle dry-brush texture, and simplified but observant natural forms. Reflections should be suggested through broken horizontal strokes rather than exact mirror detail. Balance the dense foreground with a calmer upper half, allowing the autumn color relationships and tactile paint handling to carry the mood of a still, overcast afternoon.
