Weathered Fresco Secco Ocean Swells with Limewash Textures
fresco secco · plaster painting · mineral pigments · ancient texture
A fine art painting crafted in fresco secco technique over a textured plaster ground, depicting rolling open-ocean swells under soft morning light. The surface bears subtle craquelure, micro-fissures, and chalky limewash patinas that lend an ancient architectural dignity to the water. Soft washes of oxidized copper green, muted celadon, and dusty aquamarine describe the rhythmic rise and fall of gentle waves. Highlights on the sea spray are brushed with dry calcium lime pigment, creating a soft matte glow rather than high gloss. The horizontal orientation offers an expansive, peaceful seascape characterized by subtle tonalities, historical restraint, and exquisite textural maturity.
