An evocative gouache and watercolor field plate illustrating a historic planetary conjunction viewed from an ancient megalithic stone circle. Earth-based visual perspective depicts four visible planets as precise luminous dots connected by a faint ruled graphite ecliptic guide line across an inky midnight sky. The textured surface of heavy cold-press watercolor paper reveals rough mineral washes of Prussian blue, soot black, and sepia. Weathered standing stones occupy the foreground, their moss-covered granite textures defined by dry-brush marks and subtle stippling. The planets exhibit faint atmospheric halos rendered with delicate dry gouache lifts, adhering strictly to naked-eye astronomical visibility. Hand-drawn celestial coordinate crosshairs and soft wash gradients lend the piece the intellectual charm of an 18th-century royal observatory field survey.
