Photograph abstract tropical foliage in black and white for a 3:2 landscape nature photo essay. Look upward into overlapping fan palms, positioning a bright ribbed fan on the left and a darker cropped fan across the lower right. Use angled afternoon light to separate pleated surfaces and create alternating bands of illumination and shadow. Retain fine leaf fibers and slight tears, but simplify the background into a soft charcoal field. Avoid a centered starburst; let the fans intersect asymmetrically to encourage movement across the frame. Use a rich tonal range with luminous midtones rather than crushed blacks. The final photograph should feel graphic while remaining unmistakably rooted in living tropical plants.
