Fresco Secco Yardangs and Chalky Wind Carved Basins
fresco secco · craquelure · yardangs · mineral pigments
A textured fresco secco style painting presented in a balanced 1:1 square aspect ratio for gallery artwork. Authentic lime plaster textures, fine craquelure fissures, and chalky mineral pigments rubbed directly into an aged plaster ground define a sculpted desert landscape. Sculptural, keel-shaped yardangs rise majestically from an ancient dry lakebed, their wind-carved sedimentary ridges banded with burnt ochre, chalk white, weathered copper green, and muted indigo. Crisp umber strokes delineate polygonal mud cracks in the parched foreground lakebed, anchoring the square composition. Soft raking morning light casts elongated cool shadows diagonally across the parched earth, accentuating the rhythmic geometry of rock formations and archaeological dignity of weather-beaten stone across the square format.
