Minimalist Folk-Art Gouache Print of Alert Highland Collie
gouache · linocut · folk art · illustration
A stylized Scandinavian folk-art gouache and linocut print illustration in a balanced 3:4 portrait orientation, celebrating the alert heritage of the Scottish border collie. The collie is centrally anchored in the lower two-thirds of the print, depicted with prick ears, an eager head tilt, and rhythmic decorative gouache mark-making defining its classic black-and-white coat. Framing the dog is a rhythmic botanical border of hand-carved thistle blossoms, pinecones, and stylized geometric mountain ridges rendered in opaque forest pine, mustard yellow, and slate blue against unbleached cream paper. The upper third of the vertical print provides a dignified, open cream space that creates visual equilibrium, allowing the artisanal print textures and woodblock aesthetic to shine as a collectible fine-art cover.
